It has happened to all of us, you dragged your feet on a major writing assignment and now you have to get it done in only a few hours.
Procrastinating is one of the leading reasons why many students struggle in College and University. Poor time managements skills often lead to all nighters that lend to rushed work and the handing in of incomplete assignments. When this happens frequently, grades suffer and GPA’s are low.
Many students have asked, “How can I write my research paper faster?” hoping to figure out a way to complete their assignment when they are running out of time. The truth is that even the best writers require at least three or more hours to get a paper done. If you are not a very proficient writer it may take you even longer. However, there are some ways that you can save your self a little bit of time when tackling a research paper writing assignment.
Find a quality example to work from and base your entire essay off of that paper. Begin by summarizing the papers content in point form within an outline and re-writing it using your own words. You can also borrow the same resources that the example writer used; just make sure that you double-check them for accuracy.
This isn’t recommended but you can also save your self-time by skipping the planning process and settling on the first topic that comes to mind. Then, begin composing an outline and filling it in with your own ideas. Once this is complete begin to look for strong research examples that can back up your observation. Put everything into full sentences and ta-da you are done!
No matter what, always work from an outline. This will save you a lot of time because you won’t sit around pondering what to write next. Also, following an outline template will guarantee that your research paper is properly formatted (which is important). When you fill in your outline try to use full sentences. This way, when you do sit down to write all you need to do is fill in the blanks and string your ideas together.
